Still searching for your NFL team? Here are 8 more sides worth considering — from historic dynasties to exciting rebuilds with a UK connection.

So you've read our first guide and still haven't found your team? (Best NFL Teams for UK Beginners — in case you missed it.)

The NFL has 32 teams spread across the United States, each with its own identity, history, and fanbase. Eight teams barely scratches the surface. So this guide covers eight more worth considering — different styles, different stories, different reasons to get hooked.

Detroit Lions — The Feel-Good Story of the NFL

Based in: Detroit, Michigan | Stadium: Ford Field (65,000) | Recent form: NFC Championship 2024, consistent playoff contenders

For most of their existence, the Lions were the NFL's punchline. They went 0-16 in 2008. They hadn't won a playoff game in over two decades. Detroit itself had seen better days.

Then something shifted. Under head coach Dan Campbell — a man who once said his team would "bite kneecaps off" — the Lions transformed into one of the most exciting, emotionally compelling teams in the league. They reached the NFC Championship Game in 2024 and lost in heartbreaking fashion, which only made their fanbase more devoted.

Jared Goff is their quarterback, Amon-Ra St. Brown is one of the best receivers in football, and the city of Detroit has adopted this team as a symbol of its own resilience. If you want a team with soul, an underdog narrative, and a fanbase that genuinely cares, the Lions are impossible to ignore right now.

Best for: Fans who want emotion, an underdog story, and a team that feels like it's on the verge of something special.

Los Angeles Rams — Hollywood's Super Bowl Winners

Based in: Inglewood, California | Stadium: SoFi Stadium (70,240) | Recent form: Super Bowl LVI Champions (2022), rebuilding roster

The Rams did something almost unheard of in modern sport — they traded away their future in draft picks to win a Super Bowl right now. In 2022, it worked. They beat the Cincinnati Bengals in front of their home crowd in Los Angeles, completing one of the most calculated title chases in NFL history.

Head coach Sean McVay is the most influential offensive mind of his generation, and Puka Nacua has emerged as one of the most exciting young receivers in the league. SoFi Stadium is the most technologically advanced sports venues on the planet.

The Rams are paying the price now for those trades — rebuilding with fewer picks — but McVay has rebuilt teams before, and last year took his team deep in the playoffs. Los Angeles remains one of the most glamorous franchises in sport.

Best for: Fans who appreciate smart coaching, California cool, and a franchise that's proven it can win it all.

Cincinnati Bengals — Young, Stylish, Dangerous

Based in: Cincinnati, Ohio | Stadium: Paycor Stadium (65,515) | Recent form: Missing playoffs in 2025, hungry to bounce back

The Bengals spent decades being irrelevant. Then Joe Burrow arrived.

Burrow is the coolest quarterback in the NFL. He led Cincinnati to a Super Bowl appearance in 2022 and has been one of the most compelling quarterbacks in the league ever since. Ja'Marr Chase is arguably the best wide receiver in football. Tee Higgins is not far behind. When healthy, this is one of the most watchable offences in the sport.

The catch is that Burrow has spent more time on the treatment table than any elite quarterback should. In 2025, a Grade 3 turf toe injury suffered in Week 2 kept him out for most of the season. He fought his way back by Thanksgiving, but Cincinnati missed the playoffs for the third straight year. The 2026/27 season is being talked about as a reset — a fully fit Burrow with Chase and Higgins at his disposal, with something to prove.

The defence, it should be said, has been a persistent problem. The Bengals leak points. Their games are rarely low-scoring affairs, which makes them brilliant entertainment — you just have to accept that they concede as readily as they score.

Best for: Fans who want a team built around a generational quarterback, don't mind the odd defeat, and like their football high-scoring and unpredictable.

Green Bay Packers — The Most Unique Franchise in Sport

Based in: Green Bay, Wisconsin | Stadium: Lambeau Field (81,441) | Recent form: Playoff exits in three consecutive seasons, hunting for a deep run

The Packers are the only community-owned franchise in American professional sport. There are no billionaire owners — the team is owned by over 360,000 shareholders, most of them ordinary fans in Wisconsin. That alone makes them worth knowing about.

Lambeau Field in Green Bay is one of the most iconic venues in sport. Winter games there — in temperatures that regularly drop below freezing — are a spectacle unlike anything else in football. The "Frozen Tundra" is not a myth.

When you think Green Bay Packers, you think Aaron Rodgers. He's moved on now and Jordan Love is leading the line. He's led them to the playoffs in each of his three seasons as starting quarterback, something neither Brett Favre nor Aaron Rodgers managed in their first year at the helm.

The 2025 season ended with a painful wild card exit to the Chicago Bears — blowing a 21-6 lead in the second half and losing 31-27 — which has only intensified the hunger in the building heading into 2026/27. Love is capable of spectacular football; the question now is whether he can do it when it matters most.

Fittingly, Green Bay is hosting the NFL Draft next week — 23–25 April 2026 — which puts the Packers firmly in the spotlight as the new season begins to take shape.

Best for: Fans who appreciate history, unique ownership, and a team with a young quarterback on the verge of something big.

Miami Dolphins — A New Chapter in the Sun

Based in: Miami, Florida | Stadium: Hard Rock Stadium (64,767) | Recent form: Missed playoffs in 2025, rebuilding under new head coach Jeff Hafley

Miami's recent history is a cautionary tale about what happens when injuries derail the best-laid plans. Tyreek Hill — once the fastest player on any NFL field — suffered a catastrophic knee injury in Week 4 of the 2025 season and has since been released by the club. Mike McDaniel, the creative head coach who built the league's most explosive offence around Hill's speed, was let go at season's end.

What's left is a Miami team in genuine transition, with new head coach Jeff Hafley tasked with rebuilding from the ground up. Jaylen Waddle remains under contract and is one of the most talented receivers in the league. Tua Tagovailoa, when fit, has shown he can be a top-ten quarterback. The pieces are there — it's a question of how quickly Hafley can put them together.

There's an argument for getting behind Miami right now, before the rebuild takes shape. The weather is glorious, the stadium atmosphere is among the best in the NFL, and a franchise that hasn't won a playoff game since 2000 is overdue a run.

Best for: Fans who want a team in transition with genuine upside, a star receiver, and one of the most scenic settings in sport.

New England Patriots — A Dynasty Rebuilding

Based in: Foxborough, Massachusetts | Stadium: Gillette Stadium (65,878) | Recent form: Post-Brady rebuild, lost Super Bowl LX (2026)

The Patriots are the most successful franchise of the modern NFL era. Six Super Bowl titles. Twenty consecutive winning seasons. Bill Belichick and Tom Brady built a dynasty that will likely never be replicated.

Brady is gone. Belichick is gone. The Patriots lost Super Bowl LX to the Seattle Seahawks in February 2026. But New England remains one of the most well-run organisations in the sport, and they will rebuild — they always do.

For UK fans, there's something compelling about following a team at the start of a new chapter. The Patriots of the 2030s might be just as dominant as the Patriots of the 2000s (not likely, but you never know). Getting in now, during the transition, means you'll have been there from the beginning.

Best for: Fans who respect sustained excellence, want to follow a rebuild with genuine pedigree, and don't mind a transitional period.

Los Angeles Chargers — The Exciting Option

Based in: Inglewood, California | Stadium: SoFi Stadium (70,240) | Recent form: AFC contenders, built around one of the NFL's most exciting young quarterbacks

The Chargers have long been one of the NFL's most frustrating franchises — talented rosters, passionate fanbase, and a habit of finding ways to lose games they should win. That reputation is changing.

Justin Herbert is one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He has the arm, the intelligence, and the composure to lead a franchise for a decade. Around him, the Chargers have quietly assembled a team capable of making a serious run at the AFC.

For UK fans, the Chargers offer excitement on offence, a team trending upward, and low enough existing support in Britain that you won't be accused of jumping on a bandwagon.

Best for: Fans who want an attacking, quarterback-led team with real Super Bowl potential and room to grow.

Baltimore Ravens — The NFL's Most Complete Team

Based in: Baltimore, Maryland | Stadium: M&T Bank Stadium (71,008) | Recent form: AFC contenders, consistent playoff presence

The Ravens do everything well. They have one of the most innovative offences in the league, built around Lamar Jackson — a two-time MVP who is arguably the most physically gifted quarterback in NFL history. They also have one of the most physical, aggressive defences in the game.

Jackson runs like a running back and throws with precision. Watching him operate is unlike anything else in football. Baltimore's offence has evolved into one of the most complex and rewarding systems to follow as a fan.

The Ravens have won two Super Bowls and are consistently in the conversation for a third. If you want to follow a team that competes hard every single year and has a genuine superstar at quarterback, Baltimore is one of the best choices you can make.

Best for: Fans who want a complete, elite team with one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the sport.
